About Me
Hello, I am Catherine, otherwise known as Mrs. Cat, and I have set up Mrs. Cat's Corner to try and reach other's who are seeking services from the comfort of their home. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that has worked as a therapist within the mental health profession since 2007. I have known I would be a helping professional of some kind since I was a child. My mom recently reminded me that ever since I was a little girl, I always had the ability to see the best in people, my heart was always open to others, and I was always trying to help someone! In college when I took my first class in this field, it was like a light bulb moment, the angle choirs sang, and everything lit up; I knew I had found my place. Since that time, I have been working to build the skills and knowledge needed to be able to be the best helping professional I can be. I love being a support to others, I feel like it is my calling from God. I love walking with people through their valley and arriving on the mountaintop to see the glorious views as they reach their personal goals.

I started working on my career goals while in undergraduate school at Appalachian State University where I obtained my Bachelors of Social Work. I then went to graduate school at The University of South Carolina where I obtained my Master's of social work, focusing on clinical social work. After graduating, I began working with families utilizing multisystemic therapy (MST). I later moved back to my home town and began working with children and adolescents that were using substances and/or affected by substance abuse while working on completing my clinical license. I took some time off, got married, had a child, lived in Australia for a while, and then came back to my home town, where I have been working as an outpatient therapist working with children, adolescents, and adults in the area for the past eight years. I also extended my love of working with other, to a love of teaching other's how to work with others, and once a week I am an adjunct professor at a local community college.
I am continuing to work at the practice I have been at, however now that we have all had to make some significant life changes due to the COVID-19, I am working towards building an online practice as well, that is why I have set up Mrs. Cat's Corner. I am hoping that as this practice builds I will be able to continue to reach people and offer support in a new way, in the comfort of their own home. I feel like this is a great opportunity for people to obtain supportive services, without having to leave their home; and work towards building a happier, healthier you! So whether you are someone who has chronic mental health concerns and have been managing your mental health throughout life, you have come into a recently stressful situation, or you are trying to learn how to deal with life and all the current challenges it is throwing your way, this page and these services are for you.
